El Día de los Reyes Magos: Spain’s Epic End to Christmas (การเฉลิมฉลองที่ยิ่งใหญ่ของสเปนในวันสิ้นสุดคริสต์มาส)

วันนี้ในสเปน แอนได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมหนึ่งในวันหยุดที่สำคัญที่สุดของประเทศสเปน ซึ่งก็คือ El Día de los Reyes Magos (วันของกษัตริย์ทั้งสาม) และต้องบอกเลยว่า การเฉลิมฉลองนี้มันยิ่งใหญ่จริงๆ! มันเป็นการเฉลิมฉลองวันสิ้นสุดของฤดูกาลคริสต์มาสที่นี่ และสเปนก็จัดเต็มทุกอย่างเลยค่ะ

ในสเปนการเฉลิมฉลองกษัตริย์ทั้งสาม—เมลชอร์, กัสปาร์, และบัลตาซาร์—เป็นเรื่องสำคัญ พวกเขาคือผู้ที่นำของขวัญไปให้กับทารกพระเยซู และวันนี้ก็เป็นการเฉลิมฉลองการมาถึงของพวกเขา สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ? ในสเปน เด็กๆ จะได้รับของขวัญในวันนี้ ไม่ใช่ในวันคริสต์มาส! ดังนั้น ฤดูกาลคริสต์มาสที่นี่จึงยาวนานกว่าที่แอนเคยเห็นมามาก ซึ่งมันก็สนุกและแตกต่างจากสิ่งที่แอนคุ้นเคยมากเลยค่ะ

ขบวนพาเหรด: ลูกกวาดกระจายไปทั่ว!

หนึ่งในไฮไลต์ของ El Día de los Reyes Magos คือ Cabalgata de Reyes หรือขบวนพาเหรดของกษัตริย์ทั้งสาม ซึ่งจะเกิดขึ้นในคืนวันที่ 5 มกราคม  ขบวนพาเหรดที่มีการตกแต่งที่สวยงามสวยงาม ดนตรีดังสนั่น ผู้คนในชุดเครื่องแต่งกายสุดวิเศษ และเต็มไปด้วยความตื่นเต้นมันเหมือนกับงานคาร์นิวัลขนาดเล็ก—เต็มไปด้วยสีสันและความมีชีวิตชีวา!

กษัตริย์ทั้งสามจะทอยลูกกวาดให้กับผู้คนในฝูงชน! 🍬 อย่างที่คาดไว้ เด็กๆ หรือแม้แต่ผู้ใหญ่ต่างวิ่งกรูเพื่อเก็บลูกกวาดที่ตกลงมา แอนยืนอยู่ที่นั่นดูไปพร้อมกับขำไป 😂 

มันเป็นธรรมเนียมที่น่ารัก และแอนเข้าใจว่าทำไมพวกเขาถึงทำแบบนี้ การทอยลูกกวาดในขบวนพาเหรดเป็นวิธีการแบ่งปันความสุขและความตื่นเต้นที่กษัตริย์ทั้งสามนำมามอบให้กับพระเยซู ถึงแม้แอนจะยืนอยู่เฉยๆ และได้รับลูกกวาดเต็มตัว แต่แอนก็รู้สึกเหมือนเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการเฉลิมฉลองนี้ค่ะ

หลังจากที่เห็นความตื่นเต้นในท้องถนนแล้ว แอนก็รู้สึกได้ว่าการเฉลิมฉลองนี้มันยิ่งใหญ่เมื่อเทียบกับใน สวีเดน ในสวีเดนเรามีวันหยุดในวันที่ 6 มกราคมเหมือนกัน แต่บรรยากาศจะสงบกว่า ไม่มีขบวนพาเหรด แค่เวลาครอบครัวและสนุกกับฤดูหนาว แต่ว่าในสเปนดูเหมือนว่าฤดูกาลคริสต์มาสจะไม่จบจนกว่าจะถึง El Día de los Reyes Magos มันเป็นการรวมตัวของชุมชนเพื่อมาร่วมเฉลิมฉลองกัน

แม้ว่าตอนนี้แอนจะอยู่ในเมืองเล็กๆ อย่าง Nuevo Portil ในสเปน แต่ผู้คนที่นี่ก็ยังมีการเฉลิมฉลองที่ยิ่งใหญ่ขนาดนี้เลยค่ะ ไม่สามารถจินตนาการได้เลยว่าในเมืองใหญ่ๆ ขบวนพาเหรดและงานเทศกาลจะยิ่งใหญ่แค่ไหน!

ของหวาน: Roscón de Reyes

แน่นอนว่าแอนไม่พลาดที่จะลอง Roscón de Reyes เค้กประจำวันนี้ ซึ่งเป็นขนมปังรูปวงกลมขนาดใหญ่ที่มักจะมีวิปครีมหรือช็อกโกแลตและตกแต่งด้วยผลไม้หวานๆ ข้างในมีตุ๊กตาและถั่วแอบซ่อนอยู่ ถ้าคุณพบตุ๊กตาก็จะเป็นราชาของวันนั้น แต่ถ้าคุณพบถั่ว คุณต้องจ่ายเค้กในปีหน้า แอนไม่ได้เจอทั้งตุ๊กตาหรือถั่ว แต่เค้กอร่อยมากค่ะ! 🍰

สุดท้ายแล้ว การได้สัมผัส El Día de los Reyes Magos เป็นประสบการณ์ที่น่าจดจำและสนุกมากค่ะ แอนรู้สึกโชคดีที่ได้สัมผัสประเพณีเหล่านี้และได้เห็นวิธีที่แต่ละวัฒนธรรมเฉลิมฉลองวันหยุดในแบบที่ไม่เหมือนใคร เพื่อนเพื่อนแม้ว่าแอนจะอยู่ในเมืองเล็กๆ อย่าง Nuevo Portil คนที่นี่ก็ยังฉลองกันใหญ่โตมาก แอนประทับใจสุดๆ! 💕 ถ้าใครมีโอกาสมาเที่ยวสเปนช่วงนี้ แนะนำเลยค่ะ ไม่ควรพลาด!

El Día de los Reyes Magos: Spain’s Epic End to Christmas  🎉

Today in Spain, I got to experience one of the country’s most important holidays, El Día de los Reyes Magos (The Day of the Three Wise Men), and wow, what a celebration it is! It marks the end of the Christmas season here, and let me tell you, they go all out.

So, in Spain, the Three Kings—Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar—are a huge deal. They’re the ones who brought gifts to baby Jesus, and this day celebrates their arrival. The crazy thing? In Spain, kids get their presents today, not on Christmas! So, Christmas lasts a little longer here, which I thought was really fun and different from what I’m used to.

The Parade: Candy Everywhere!

One of the best parts of El Día de los Reyes Magos is the Cabalgata de Reyes, or the Three Kings Parade, which happens the night before (January 5th). Picture this: huge floats, music blasting, people in amazing costumes, and so much excitement in the air. I had no idea what to expect, but it was like a mini carnival—so colorful and lively!

And guess what? The Kings throw candy to the crowds! 🍬 As you can imagine, the kids were going wild trying to catch the sweets. I was standing there watching it all😂. I couldn’t even escape it, but it was so fun. I definitely didn’t mind, though—it was just part of the whole experience. I was laughing the whole time as candy came flying at me from every direction!

It’s a cool tradition, and I get why they do it. Throwing sweets during the parade is a way of sharing the joy and excitement that the Three Kings brought to Jesus. Even though I was just standing there getting candy all over, I really felt like I was part of the celebration.

A Celebration Like No Other

After seeing all the excitement in the streets, I realized just how big this celebration is in Spain compared to Sweden. In Sweden, we have a holiday on January 6th too, but it’s way more low-key—no huge parades, just some quiet family time and enjoying the winter season. But in Spain, it feels like the Christmas season doesn’t really end until El Día de los Reyes Magos. It’s all about the community coming together to celebrate, and I loved being part of it.

Even though I live in a smaller town now—Nuevo Portil in Spain—people here still have such a big celebration. I can only imagine how much more extravagant the parade and festivities would be in a bigger city! The energy, the lights, the excitement—everything was just on another level. It really made me appreciate how Spain embraces this time of year, no matter where you are.

The Sweet Tradition: Roscón de Reyes

Of course, I couldn’t forget to try Roscón de Reyes, the traditional cake that’s eaten on this day. It’s a big round pastry, usually filled with whipped cream or chocolate and decorated with candied fruits. Inside, they hide a figurine and a bean. If you find the figurine, you’re the king for the day, but if you find the bean, you have to buy the roscón next year. I didn’t get either, but the cake was delicious! 

I feel so lucky to be able to experience these traditions and see the unique ways different cultures celebrate holidays. If you have the chance to visit Spain during this time, I highly recommend it. You shouldn't miss it

 

A Lunch Trip to Portugal – Dining at Restaurante O Infante 😆 (ธุรกิจหรือมื้อกลางวันกับเพื่อน?)

Today, we took a drive to Portugal and enjoyed a simple yet delicious lunch at Restaurante O Infante. Located in Vila Real de Santo António, just across the Spanish border, this cozy spot is known for its fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese flavors. The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming, with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying their meals. We were lucky to arrive a bit early—there were still a few tables available. But by the time we left, the restaurant was completely packed!

As usual, we started with a tomato and tuna salad, paired with Manzanilla olives—a light and refreshing way to begin the meal. For the main course, we shared Dorado fish, a typical Portuguese dish, Bitoque, a classic steak dish served with fries and a fried egg on top. I also wanted to try a spider crab Changurro, a flavorful crab dish often prepared with a mix of shellfish, onions, and spices. Every dish was well-prepared, simple yet full of rich flavors that highlight the best of Portuguese cuisine.

One of the things I love about living in a small golf town is the freedom to take short road trips and explore different restaurants in both Spain and Portugal. Having a car makes it so easy to cross the border and enjoy a change of scenery—even if it’s just for a meal. There’s something special about discovering these local gems, where the food speaks for itself and every meal feels like a little adventure.

วันนี้เราได้ขับรถข้ามไปโปรตุเกส และทานมื้อกลางวันง่ายๆ แต่รสชาติเยี่ยมที่ Restaurante O Infante ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ที่ Vila Real de Santo António ใกล้ๆ กับชายแดนสเปน ร้านนี้ดังเรื่องอาหารทะเลสดๆ และรสชาติแบบโปรตุเกสดั้งเดิม บรรยากาศในร้านน่ารักและอบอุ่น คนท้องถิ่นก็มาเยอะ นักท่องเที่ยวก็มีบ้าง เราโชคดีไปถึงเร็ว เลยยังพอมีโต๊ะว่างให้เลือก แต่พอกินเสร็จ ร้านก็เต็มไปหมดแล้ว!

เริ่มต้นมื้อด้วยสลัดมะเขือเทศกับทูน่า เสิร์ฟพร้อมมะกอก Manzanilla ที่สดชื่นดีมาก เป็นการเริ่มมื้อที่เบาๆ สำหรับเมนูหลัก เราสั่งปลา Dorada ซึ่งเป็นเมนูโปรตุเกสดั้งเดิม และ Bitoque สเต๊กเนื้อกับเฟรนช์ฟรายส์และไข่ดาวบนสุด นอกจากนี้ฉันก็อยากลอง Changurro จานปูรสชาติเยี่ยมที่มีหอยหลากหลายชนิดหอมๆ ผสมเครื่องเทศต่างๆ ทุกจานที่ได้มาคือรสชาติที่เรียบง่ายแต่ลึกซึ้งและเต็มไปด้วยรสชาติแบบโปรตุเกส

สิ่งที่ฉันชอบสุดๆ ตอนที่อยู่เมืองเล็กๆ แบบนี้คือการที่สามารถขับรถไปทริปสั้นๆ และลองร้านอาหารใหม่ๆ ในสเปนและโปรตุเกสได้ง่ายๆ มีรถยนต์ก็ทำให้ข้ามชายแดนได้ไม่ยาก แม้ว่าจะขับไปแค่ทานอาหารมื้อเดียว แต่มันทำให้รู้สึกเหมือนได้ผจญภัยเล็กๆ และได้เจอร้านที่อร่อยและคุ้มค่ามากๆ

今天我们开车去了葡萄牙，在Restaurante O Infante享用了简单但美味的午餐。这个餐厅位于Vila Real de Santo António，靠近西班牙边境，以新鲜的海鲜和传统的葡萄牙风味闻名。餐厅的氛围温馨而友好，店里有很多当地人，也有一些游客。我们很幸运早点到，餐厅还有几张空桌子，但吃完时，餐厅已经满了！

我们开始时点了番茄金枪鱼沙拉，搭配Manzanilla橄榄，非常清爽，是个不错的开胃菜。主菜我们点了Dorada鱼和Bitoque，这是一道经典的葡萄牙牛排，配有薯条和一个煎蛋。此外，我还想尝试Txangurro，这是一道非常美味的螃蟹菜。每道菜都很简单，但却充满了浓郁的风味。

我最喜欢的一件事就是，在这样一个小城市做生意，我可以轻松开车去短途旅行，尝试西班牙和葡萄牙的新餐厅。有车真的很方便，能轻松跨越边境，尽管只是为了吃一顿饭，但却让人感觉像是一次小小的冒险，还能发现一些超值的好餐厅。

My First Week Back in Spain: Trying a New Restaurant with a Burger Topped with Caramel Sauce!

กลับมาถึงสเปนวันแรกก็เริ่มทำงานเลย ยังไม่ได้ออกไปทานข้าวนอกบ้านเลย พออาทิตย์นี้ว่างก็เลยมีเวลาออกไปลองร้านอาหารใหม่แถวๆ บ้าน เป็นร้านเบอร์เกอร์ มีเมนูหนึ่งที่แปลกดี คือเบอร์เกอร์ราดซอสคาราเมล เจ้าของร้านเป็นพ่อครัวเอง ส่วนพนักงานเสิร์ฟก็น่ารักมาก บริการดีสุดๆ 😉 ราคาก็ไม่ได้แพงมาก เบอร์เกอร์สามแบบ จานใหญ่ ไก่ทอด และโค้กอีก 5 ขวด ทั้งหมดราคา 42 ยูโร ถ้าเทียบกับตอนอยู่สวีเดนแล้วถือว่าเป็นคนละเรื่องเลย 

On my first day back in Spain, I jumped straight into work and didn’t get the chance to go out for a meal. This week I finally had some free time, so I popped out to try a new burger place near my house. They had this rather unusual dish – a burger topped with caramel sauce! The owner is the chef himself, and the staff were lovely, with excellent service 😉. The prices weren’t too bad either. We had three massive burgers, fried chicken, and five bottles of Coke, all for 42 euros. Compared to Sweden, it’s a completely different story hehe!

Första dagen tillbaka i Spanien började jag jobba direkt och hade inte tid att gå ut och äta. Den här veckan hade jag äntligen lite ledig tid, så jag passade på att prova ett nytt hamburger ställe i närheten av där jag bor. De hade en rätt som var lite annorlunda – en hamburgare med kolasås! Ägaren är kocken själv och personalen var jättetrevliga, med fantastisk service 😉. Priserna var inte så farliga heller. Vi tog tre enorma hamburgare, friterad kyckling och fem flaskor Coca-Cola, allt för 42 euro. Jämfört med Sverige är det en helt annan grej, haha!

A Lovely Dinner with Friends

วันนี้เจิ้นกับกบนัดมาทานข้าวกันที่ร้านอาหารอิตาเลียนในหาดใหญ่ ร้าน PA•PAR••DAY•LAY(ปัปปาเดเล่ย์) ร้านนี้เค้าทำเส้นพาสต้าเอง สดใหม่ทุกจานเลยค่ะ! ไม่ได้มาหาดใหญ่นานมาก พอกลับมาทุกครั้งก็เจอร้านใหม่ๆ เยอะไปหมดเลย วันนี้คุยกันเพลินจนลืมถ่ายรูปอาหารไว้เลย หลังจากทานข้าวเสร็จก็แวะไปทานนมและขนมปังที่ ร้านพี่ปุ้ย อีกอิ่มมาก เอาไว้คราวหน้าจะมารีวิวอาหารนะคะ 

ขอบคุณมากๆ ที่นัดมาเจอกันน้า แล้วเจอกันใหม่ปีหน้านะคะ ทั้งสองคนน่ารักและอบอุ่นเหมือนเดิม​เลยค่ะ 

Today, Jen and Kob arranged to meet for lunch at an Italian restaurant, Pappardelle, in Hat Yai. This place makes their pasta from scratch, fresh for every dish! It's been ages since I last visited Hat Yai, and every time I return, I find so many new places popping up. We were so engrossed in our conversation today that I completely forgot to take any food photos! I'll make sure to do a proper food review next time. After finishing the meal, we also stopped by for dessert at  ร้าน​​พี่ปุ้ย. 

Thanks so much for meeting up, it was lovely seeing you both! Until we meet again next year, you're as sweet and warm as ever!

Idag träffade jag Jen och Kob för middag på en italiensk restaurang, Pappardelle, i Hat Yai. De gör sin egen färska pasta här. Det var evigheter sedan jag var i Hat Yai, och varje gång jag kommer på besök hittar jag så många nya ställen. Vi var så uppslukade av vår konversation att vi helt glömde att ta bilder på maten! Jag ska se till att göra en ordentlig recension på maten nästa gång. Och efter att ha avslutat måltiden, åt vi dessert på ร้าน​​พี่ปุ้ย .

Tack så mycket för att ni träffade mig, det var så härligt att se er båda! Vi ses igen nästa år, ni är lika gulliga och varma som alltid

Packing, Chatting, and Fashion: A Day with Kate

วันนี้ Kate แวะมาหาที่บ้านพอดี ตอนนั้นกำลังจัดเสื้อผ้าอยู่ เลยให้นางลองใส่เสื้อผ้าคอลเลคชั่นแรกที่เราทำเอง ผลออกมาดีมากเลยค่ะ นางแบบน่ารัก เสื้อก็สวย เราชมกันเองไปซะหมด (แอบภูมิใจเล็กๆ) โชคดีมากที่แกกลับมาหาดใหญ่ก่อนที่เราจะกลับไปสวีเดน เลยได้เจอกัน นั่งคุยกันยาวตั้งแต่พระอาทิตย์ตกจนพระจันทร์ขึ้นเลย ยังไม่จบ! ขอโทษด้วยนะที่ต้องให้มาหาถึงบ้าน ช่วงนี้ยุ่งมาก ต้องจัดบ้านจัดกระเป๋า เลยไม่มีเวลาออกไปนั่งดื่มกาแฟด้วยกัน เอาไว้คราวหน้าเนอะ คุยกันยาวจนต้องมาต่อวันถัดไปเลย ยังไงก็รักษาสุขภาพนะ แล้วไว้เจอกันปีหน้าจ้ะ คิดถึงมากๆ 💕

Today, Kate came over to my house while I was busy organizing my clothes. I seized the opportunity to let her try on some pieces from my very first clothing collection, and she looked absolutely fantastic! Our  model is simply adorable, and the outfits are stunning—I’m quite proud of them, if I do say so myself! Hehe!

I’m so glad Kate came down to Hat Yai before I head back to Sweden. We ended up chatting for hours, from dusk till dawn, and we still weren’t finished! I’m sorry for making you drive all the way to me; things have been a bit hectic with packing and tidying up, so we didn’t have time to go out for coffee together. Let’s save that for next time!

There’s so much to talk about that we might need a Day Two just to cover it all! Anyway, take care of yourself, and I can’t wait to see you again next year! I miss you lots!

Idag kom Kate förbi mitt hem medan jag var upptagen med att packa mina kläder. Jag passade på att låta henne prova några plagg från min  första klädkollektion, och hon såg helt fantastisk ut! Vår modell är så söt, och kläderna är fantastiska hehe!

Jag är så glad att Kate kom ner till Hat Yai innan jag åker tillbaka till Sverige. Förlåt att jag fick dig att köra hela vägen hit; det har varit lite hektiskt med packning och städning, så vi hade inte tid att gå ut och fika tillsammans. Vi får spara det till nästa gång!

Det finns så mycket att prata om att vi kanske behöver a Day Two för att hinna med allt! Hur som helst, ta hand om dig, och jag ser fram emot att träffa dig igen nästa år! Saknar dig massor!
