วันชาติสวีเดน แบบสั้น ๆ เข้าใจง่าย ( Swedish National Day - A Quick and Simple Explanation )

 

วันนี้วันที่ 6 มิถุนายน — Sveriges nationaldag (วันชาติสวีเดน) ค่ะ

ใครที่เพิ่งมาอยู่สวีเดนใหม่ ๆ อาจจะไม่ทันสังเกตด้วยซ้ำว่าวันนี้เป็นวันสำคัญ เพราะที่นี่เขาฉลองกันเงียบ ๆ กว่าที่หลายคนคิดเยอะ

แล้ววันนี้เกี่ยวกับอะไร?

จริง ๆ แล้วมีสองเหตุการณ์สำคัญที่เกิดขึ้นในวันที่ 6 มิถุนายนค่ะ

เหตุการณ์แรกเกิดขึ้นในปี 1523 เมื่อ Gustav Vasa (กุสตาฟ วาซา) ได้รับเลือกขึ้นเป็นกษัตริย์ และถือเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของสวีเดนในฐานะประเทศเอกราช

ส่วนเหตุการณ์ที่สองเกิดขึ้นในปี 1809 เมื่อสวีเดนประกาศใช้ 1809 års regeringsform (รัฐธรรมนูญปี 1809) ซึ่งกลายเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของระบบการปกครองสมัยใหม่ของประเทศ

วันเดียวกัน แต่เป็นจุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญของประเทศถึงสองครั้งเลยค่ะ

ที่น่าสนใจก็คือ วันที่ 6 มิถุนายนถูกเรียกว่า Svenska flaggans dag (วันธงชาติสวีเดน) อยู่เป็นเวลานาน ก่อนจะได้รับการยกให้เป็น Sveriges nationaldag อย่างเป็นทางการในปี 1983 และเพิ่งกลายเป็นวันหยุดราชการ (helgdag) เมื่อปี 2005 นี่เอง

ถ้าเทียบกับหลายประเทศในยุโรปแล้ว ถือว่าเป็นวันชาติที่ยังค่อนข้างใหม่เลยค่ะ

ส่วนบรรยากาศของวันนี้เหรอ?

เรียบง่ายแบบสไตล์สวีเดนสุด ๆ

เราจะเห็นธงสีฟ้า-เหลือง (den svenska flaggan) โบกสะบัดอยู่ตามบ้านเรือนและสถานที่ราชการ บางเมืองมีพิธีเล็ก ๆ มีดนตรี มีการแสดง หรือมีคนแต่งชุดประจำชาติสวีเดน (svensk folkdräkt) ออกมาร่วมงาน

แต่จะไม่มีพลุ ไม่มีขบวนพาเหรดใหญ่โต หรือการเฉลิมฉลองเสียงดังเหมือนในบางประเทศ

มีเพียงการระลึกถึงประเทศของตัวเองอย่างเรียบง่ายและอบอุ่น ซึ่งก็ค่อนข้างสะท้อนวัฒนธรรมสวีเดนได้ดีเลยค่ะ

และอีกสิ่งหนึ่งที่หลายคนอาจไม่รู้ก็คือ วันนี้ยังเป็นวันที่หลายเมืองทั่วประเทศจัดพิธีต้อนรับพลเมืองใหม่ (medborgarskapsceremoni) ด้วย

จะมีการกล่าวต้อนรับ มีดนตรีเล็ก ๆ และมอบใบประกาศนียบัตรเชิงสัญลักษณ์ให้กับผู้ที่ได้รับสัญชาติสวีเดนแล้ว

แต่จริง ๆ แล้วคนเหล่านั้นไม่ได้เพิ่งได้รับสัญชาติในวันนี้นะคะ เพราะการได้สัญชาติเกิดขึ้นตั้งแต่ตอนที่คำขอได้รับการอนุมัติแล้ว

วันนี้เป็นเพียงวันแห่งการต้อนรับและแสดงความยินดีอย่างเป็นทางการเท่านั้น

ซึ่งหลายคนก็บอกว่าเป็นช่วงเวลาที่อบอุ่นและน่าประทับใจมากค่ะ

ถ้าวันนี้เพื่อน ๆ อยู่ที่สวีเดน สิ่งที่ดีที่สุดที่ทำได้อาจไม่ใช่การไปงานใหญ่โตอะไรเลย

แค่ออกไปเดินเล่นข้างนอก สูดอากาศดี ๆ ชมธงสวีเดนที่โบกสะบัดอยู่ตามเมือง และเพลิดเพลินกับช่วงต้นฤดูร้อน (försommar) ที่สวยที่สุดช่วงหนึ่งของปี

กลางวันยาวขึ้น แสงแดดนุ่ม ๆ กลับมาอีกครั้ง และผู้คนก็ออกมาใช้ชีวิตข้างนอกมากขึ้น

และบางที นั่นแหละค่ะ — มากกว่าพิธีการใด ๆ — คือจิตวิญญาณของวันชาติสวีเดน

Swedish National Day ( A Quick and Simple Explanation )

Today is 6 June — Sveriges nationaldag (Swedish National Day).

If you've recently moved to Sweden, you might not even realise that today is a national holiday. That's because Swedes tend to celebrate it much more quietly than many people expect.

So what is the day actually about?

There are two important historical events connected to 6 June.

The first took place in 1523, when Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden. This is often seen as the beginning of Sweden as an independent nation.

The second took place in 1809, when Sweden adopted the 1809 års regeringsform (the 1809 Instrument of Government), an important constitutional document that helped shape the country's modern system of government.

One date, but two major turning points in Swedish history.

Interestingly, 6 June was known for many years as Svenska flaggans dag (Swedish Flag Day). It wasn't officially recognised as Sveriges nationaldag until 1983, and it only became a public holiday (helgdag) in 2005.

Compared with many other European countries, Sweden's national holiday is actually quite young.

And what is the atmosphere like?

Very Swedish.

You'll see blue-and-yellow flags (den svenska flaggan) flying outside homes, public buildings, and town halls. Some towns organise small ceremonies, concerts, or community events, and you may spot people wearing traditional Swedish folk costumes (svensk folkdräkt).

But you won't find huge military parades, fireworks, or loud celebrations.

Instead, it's a quiet and simple day to reflect on the country and enjoy the beginning of summer — which feels very Swedish in itself.

Another thing many people don't know is that National Day is also when many municipalities hold citizenship ceremonies (medborgarskapsceremoni) to welcome new Swedish citizens.

There are often speeches, music, and a symbolic certificate presentation.

Of course, these people didn't actually become Swedish citizens on this day — their citizenship was granted earlier when their applications were approved.

The ceremony is simply a warm and official welcome into Swedish society.

If you're in Sweden today, the best way to celebrate might not be attending a big event at all.

It could be as simple as going for a walk, enjoying the fresh air, seeing the Swedish flags around town, and appreciating the beautiful försommar (early summer) light that Sweden is famous for.

The days are long, the evenings are bright, and people are finally spending more time outdoors again.

And perhaps that, more than any ceremony, captures the true spirit of Swedish National Day.
